Pet Support

Spokane Humane Society is our official Animal-Relief Partner for Spokane Rises. SHS is helping people affected by the Spokane Complex fires get support for the pets in their household.

Official Animal-Relief Partner

Helping keep pets with their families

Spokane Humane Society has been operating for 129 years, and receives no government funding. Its regular work is sustained by community support, and for Spokane Rises, SHS is serving as the companion animal relief and distribution partner.

During the immediate response, Spokane Humane Society was at the Disaster Assistance Center for seven straight days, nine hours a day, providing pet food, supplies, free microchipping, resources, and other assistance directly to fire-affected families.

Now that the Disaster Assistance Center has ended, SHS is continuing that work through its online support form and customized care packages based on each household's needs. This support may continue for weeks or months as families deal with displacement, damaged or lost housing, temporary living situations, and pet-friendly housing challenges.
